Savannah Guthrie will not be around for the new year on Today, but fans can rest assured that her absence will only be temporary. The talk show host revealed during the December 19 episode of Today that she will be away from the show for a few weeks in 2026.
"Today" show host Savannah Guthrie revealed she will be taking a brief hiatus from the morning talk show in the new year to undergo vocal surgery.
A vocal polyp is a benign growth on the vocal cords that can be caused by overuse of one’s voice (Guthrie began hosting Today in 2012 and has worked in broadcast journalism since 1993). It’s a non-serious condition and has an excellent recovery prognosis.
The host said its a relief to know what has been bothering her for so long, but will have to miss time from the show to correct the issue.
