Build your own Volcano
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·ndlest
The National Geographic Chemistry and Volcano building sets are a great gateway for young people 8 yrs and up to really delve into the world of science in a fun and engaging way and With Adult supervision of course! Each set came with everything needed to conduct the experiments listed. The instructions and illustrations were very easy to follow which made everything super easy! \r\nThe Build your own Volcano kit came with Mold, paint and everything needed to make multiple eruptions along with a colorful volcano learning guide. Chemicals included are: Citric Acid... Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate and Plaster of Paris.\r\n \r\n \r\nThe Volcano building set required a quite a bit of work as you had to mix the plaster and pour it into the mold and let it sit for 45 min . In order to paint the plaster you must make sure it is completely dry. We let it sit for 24 hours but still had to put it in the oven on 200 degrees for 2 hours before adding paint. This was also a super messy experiment so make sure you have a lot of newspaper to catch the liquid when it erupts from the volcano. \r\n\r\nThe included literature with this set was very informative and gave a lot of detailed information and fun facts about Volcanoes Overall I would definitely recommend these and other National Geographic sets as they are a great way to channel the scientist in all of us!

Fun volcano for kids!

The National Geographic STEM Series Build Your Own Volcano Kit is an absolute gem for anyone seeking an exciting and educational hands-on experience. From casting the volcano with the included plaster and mold to the thrilling eruption using the provided eruption powder, every step of this kit is an adventure in learning and fun for my 7 year old. The ease of assembly and the sturdiness of the reusable volcano form make this kit a complete package for an unforgettable family activity. What sets this kit apart is its commitment to making science enjoyable. The included learning guide is a treasure trove of information, covering topics such as tectonic plates, earthquakes, volcano formation, and volcanic rocks. The geode and pumice specimens add a touch of authenticity, allowing participants to explore and learn about real volcanic rocks. If you're looking for a perfect blend of entertainment and education, this volcano kit is a must-have for every curious mind.

As a teacher I am always looking for ways to make learning fun and engaging in the classroom and at home with my children. This kit does just that! The child gets to create a volcano while learning information with the enclosed book about volcanoes. The directions were very simple and easy to complete. The child can do almost everything independently. I did help my 9 year old mix the plaster, but everything else he did. The mold for the volcano was easy to put together, he loved painting his volcano and creating the eruption. He expected the volcano to have a bigger eruption, but still enjoyed it. We did it outside because I wasn’t sure how messy it would be, but you could complete it indoors. The lava stayed on the paper plate we put under the volcano. I would highly recommend this STEM activity!

Make, paint, and explode your own volcano!
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·ApplesOranges17
I hesitated to pick the volcano kit because I thought it was going to be a one and done volcano. However, this kit is great! You assemble a mold and mix some plaster of paris to make your own volcano & then paint it. Then you put baking soda and citric acid to explode the volcano. The instructions are great, and the kit includes enough to do the explosion several times. Now it's a 4 inch volcano so the explosions aren't crazy. The instructions include how to use baking soda, dish soap, and vinegar to keep your volcano active. The kit has a few pages talking about volcanos and 2 pumice rock specimens are included. It's rated 8+ so parental supervision or help may be necessary.

Nice science experiment
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·Lovebunny555
This is a fun experiment, the whole packet of plaster mix is to be used to make the one volcano. It took exactly 45 minutes to dry in the mold and then then we are now waiting the recommended day for it to dry to be able to paint and then be able to put the stuff in for it to be a volcano. My kids enjoyed helping with the process of mixing and pouring the mold but now to wait is not so fun. The plaster only can make one volcano mold and not two. But you do get two packets of the stuff to make it look like a volcano. It's fun. It would be best to get it all made up and dry ready to decorate before your kids see if you have 4 and and 8 year old. Highly recommend though.

Such Excitement

My 5 year old was so excited to start his volcano project. Adult supervision is a must and directions can be found in the box and online. It was nice for my son to view the video of what to do before we actually began. Once the volcano has been constructed, you can use as often as you like. Be careful to use bowls that you don't mind getting rid of after you mix the clay. Also, once the eruption powders are mixed, be sure to cover so that it's not hardened and unusable(as we did). Luckily, there are other eruption materials that can be mixed to continue volcano erupting experiments.

I have two homeschooled boys so I'm always looking for fun activities to add to my curriculum. In science we're currently covering volcanoes and I figured this would be a great project for them to do.\n The kit included a volcano learning guide which was nice. I helped them mold their volcanoes and they had fun painting them.\n We decided to use some of our own paint since the included color palette was limited.\n In the end, the volcano erupted perfectly.\n We had a lot of fun using this kit and learned some interesting new facts about volcanoes.

This kit was messy but awesome!! The 2 specimen rocks was a nice addition to the kit. Making the plaster volcano was a breeze and my son enjoyed painting it. I really enjoyed the fact that the volcano can be reused multiple times. The instructions included various ways to make the volcano "erupt" with other household ingredients. The citric acid was stuck together in the package and I recommend breaking it up first before cutting it open so it's even distributed when you mix it. Overall, this was a fun project and well done.

This Build Your own volcano set by National Geographic STEM includes everything needed to make a volcano and erupt it for a few times. Also, there was an instruction provided along with a learning guide about volcanoes. \nI like that the process is not very quick and easy, and there are steps to do. With this set, my son shaped his own volcano using the mold provided, colored it, and then made an experiment. \nI am satisfied with the quality and value of this set and would recommend this product for others.

Our son has been really interested in volcano's lately so this was a great way for him to learn more about it.

This was a way to utilize an educational toy instead of simply turning on the television and not being able to spend time together as a family. The instructions were very easy and my children were so proud of themselves when the volcano was completed! A win for this household!

This National Geographic Volcano Kit was a lot of fun to make with the kids. They loved it! It does take a lot of time to dry. That was kinda hard for my younger kiddos. You can put it in the oven for 1-2 hours to speed up the process or you can wait for it to air dry. The kids enjoyed painting it and then of course they loved watching the volcano erupt. It really isn’t very messy which is a plus.
